Army Aviation Museum Helicopter Inspires 2019 White House Christmas Ornament

The VCH-34 presidential helicopter on display at the Fort Rucker Army Aviation Museum in Alabama is a model for this years White House Historical Association (WHHA) Christmas ornament. The 2019 ornament honors President Dwight D. Eisenhower as the first President to use helicopters in 1957, and the helicopter displayed at the museum was one of the first used by Eisenhower.

Aiming to win at the 2019 Army Best Medic Competition

During the week of Sept. 23-27, the U.S. Army Medical Command is once again hosting the two-Soldier Command Sgt. Maj. Jack L. Clark Jr. U.S. Army Best Medic Competition, but with a twist. For the first time in its 35 year history, the ABMC is not being held on Camp Bullis, Texas. It is the first time Regional Health Command-Pacific, located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord is conducting the competition, which tests the physical and intellectual limits of the Army's best medics during a 72-hour demanding, continuous and realistic simulated operational environment.

CHILIKEMER TRAINING AREA, Kazakhstan (June 26, 2019) -- At the combined battalion headquarters for Exercise Steppe Eagle 19, a multinational staff of American, Kazakhstani, Tajikistani, Kyrgyzstani, and British soldiers sit side-by-side manning the intelligence, operations, logistics, and communication sections. Analog maps, updated tracking spreadsheets, and radios line the walls as hourly reports are received by each company command post. The progressive training is promising, as eight days prior, many of the exercise's participants learned key staff principles like the Army's six warfighting functions: movement and maneuver, intelligence, fires, sustainment, mission command, and protection. With Steppe Eagle 19 concluding June 27, the exercise's planners and training officers say they are confident in the participating nations' growing capabilities.

Officer learns of cancer after blood donation visit

What began as a simple act -- donating blood to help save lives of other military service members and their families -- ended up saving the life of a U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Bavaria commissioned officer. Earlier this year, then 1st Lt. Eric S. Anderson Sr., executive officer for the U.S. Army Health Clinic Hohenfels, attended a blood drive, run by the Armed Services Blood Program -- Europe. Anderson was there to donate blood, something he had done several times in the past. It was at this blood drive Anderson's life would forever change.
